Traditional foot reflexology dates back to Ancient Egypt, India and China but it wasn’t until 1913 when Dr William Fitzgerald introduced the therapy to the West as Zone therapy.

He discovered that reflex areas on the feet, hands and face were linked to other areas and organs of the body within the same zone. So by applying pressure on the reflex points and areas on the feet we can effect changes elsewhere in the body.

Traditional reflexology works on the principle of zone therapy but in the last ten years Lone Sorensen has updated reflexology through studies in neuro-anatomy and created a concept known as Praxis Vertebralis.

Praxis Vertebralis looks at the relationship between the Central Nervous Sytem and the meridians alongside the relationship between the nerve points and nerve zones in the feet and their connection with the organs, skin, muscles, cranial nerves, parts of the brain and the chemical balance of the body.

In Praxis we look for inflammation in the tissues and organs found on the foot reflexes known as deposits or imbalances. These are neurological and vascular matter and not calcium deposits as in the traditional forms of reflexology. We aim to balance these and restore equilibrium in the body systems.
